My Heavenly Father Loves Me!

Recently, I was able to attend church with my sister and her ward's Relief Society was singing "My Heavenly Father Loves Me" as their practice hymn. This is among my very favorite primary songs (it's probably second only to "He Sent His Son"...LOVE that song!)

Here are the words to the song, as I had learned it in primary:

Or look at the blue, blue sky,

Or the wind as it rushes by,
Whenever I touch a velvet rose
Or walk by our lilac tree,
I'm glad that I live in this beautiful world
Heav'nly Father created for me.

He gave me my eyes that I might see
The color of butterfly wings.
He gave me my ears that I might hear
The magical sound of things.
He gave me my life, my mind, my heart;
I thank Him reverently
For all His creations of which I'm a part.
Yes, I know Heav'nly Father loves me.

As if this song weren't amazing enough as it is, a third verse was recently added to it.

In prayer at Gethsemane,
Whenever I picture Him healing the lame
Or making the blind man see,
Whenever I think how he willingly gave
His perfect life for me,
I marvel as gratitude swells in my heart,
For I know Heav'nly Father loves me.

The words of the song have always touched my heart and have helped me to remember just how blessed I am to have a loving Heavenly Father, who sent his Son to atone and die for me, that I might be whole. He sent our Savior, Jesus Christ, to experience all of the emotions (good and bad) as well as all of the trials that we could ever have while here on the earth, just so that He would know how to comfort us and give us peace. That is just amazing to me and I am grateful for it!
