Since Christmas Break gives us a moment or two to breathe, we finally got to go on an adventure. This time, we went to LA to go to the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum. We got on the road about noon and decided to grab some lunch on the way there. We decided just to make it kind of a play it by ear kind of day. Traffic started to back up a little right around Indian Hill on the 10, so we got off to find something there. We decided to try something new to both of us and we ended up at Zaky Mediterranean Grill. It was good, but I don't think it landed on either of our lists of favorites.
After lunch, we got back on the road and made it to LA. We found parking in the garage for the mall that's next door to the wax museum and we stopped and saw the hand and footprints in the cement in front of Mann's Chinese Theater before finding our way in. I quickly discovered that the Madame Tussauds in Hollywood is nothing like the one in New York. The one in New York was WAY cooler, but this one was still good. We spent an hour or two there, exploring and saw the 4D Marvel movie. They went all out on the water feature and we got more wet in the theater than we had gotten outside, even though it was a rainy day. Here are a few pictures of us enjoying the wax museum.

After the museum, we walked down Hollywood Blvd. for a while and looked at the different stars on the Walk of Fame. It rained a bit, but it wasn't too hard, so we just enjoyed the walk. Finally, we decided to turn back and head to the car. We decided to go to Griffith Observatory and then to see the lights at the LA Temple.
Griffith Observatory was ridiculously crowded, so we just kind of walked through a little bit. Scott had never been there before, so it was kind of sad that we couldn't see anything with all of the crowds. Additionally, neither Scott nor I are big on huge swarms of people. Fortunately, I saw the door to the outside viewing area and I told Scott to come with me. At first he was confused and tried to tell me that the door would lead us outside, and I just nodded to him and told him that I knew. As soon as we walked out there, he understood why I was telling him to come outside even though it was very cold and very wet. The view was gorgeous! The pictures can't do it justice, so you'll just have to take my word for it.
The way the clouds hovered and the moisture in the air reflected the city lights...beautiful!
After spending a little time outside, we decided to head over to the Temple, but first SELFIES! haha
The LA Temple and the lights all around were so beautiful! What a beautiful place to be and what a beautiful purpose it serves. Life is so hard sometimes, but it gives me great hope and peace that the hardships in life are temporary, but the things that are most precious are permanent and eternal as a result of the covenants we make in these holy houses. We walked around a little bit and then snuck into the visitor center for a few minutes to get warm. They had lots of Christmas trees decorated in different styles and this one caught my eye because these sunburst ornaments reminded me a lot of Grandma Merrell and the sunburst clock that she hung over the piano in the living room.
Excuse our crazy faces and hair. It was raining and it was dark and very cold, which meant that we were the ONLY people out there and had to stick with selfies, meaning that the bright flash was right in our faces. In fact, the first thing Scott said after this first picture is that he was blind. Fortunately, he regained his sight quickly! ;)
After this we drove to Rancho and went to dinner at Johnny Carino's for dinner. We stuffed ourselves to the point of feeling sick and then decided to call it a night! It was such a fun day and we played it completely by ear and kept it chill all day. It was an amazing day with amazing company!
